Living Martyrs

Philippians 1:21: For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

There have been more Christian martyrs than we could possibly count. Too often the lives of the martyrs have been overlooked or forgotten. They were martyred BECAUSE of the lives they lived BEFORE their martyrdom. We should not desire to die for Christ before we have lived for Him. Dying for Him may be easier than living for Him. At least it can be quicker. The death of a Christian is not always something that he does for Christ. But it is always something that Christ does for him.

Oswald Chambers:

It is of no value to God to give Him your life for death. He wants you to be a *living sacrifice,* to let Him have all your powers that have been saved and sanctified through Jesus. This is the thing that is acceptable to God.

Heaven will be a place where we will serve God perfectly. But our serving Him here on earth is more needful until the moment we stop breathing. God knows when and where our service is more needful. If you are still breathing this earth is, for now, the most needful place for your service. Let us live faithfully like the martyrs did for as long as possible.
